Concentrating on manufacturing smaller cars running with highly efficient diesel power plants seems to be collecting profits for Peugeot which figures an 18.6% sales share of cars with sub 120 g/km in the UK and around 15.5% all over Europe. Peugeot also ruled 14.3% of shares in the sub 130 field.

To make the picture clearer, there was 1 Peugeot in every 6 vehicles sold in the UK and Europe for 2008. That is the reason why the car company tops the sales for low CO2 emitting vehicles that part of the globe.

The range of cars of Peugeot has 36 kinds of vehicles that are below the 121 g/km. The commitment of the car manufacturer to build environment friendly cars had made their Blue Lion standards a household name in the UK. The Blue Lion standards refer to their vehicles that are all below the CO2 emission rating of 131 g/km.

In the UK, the Peugeot 107 led the pack of the best selling vehicles with a very low CO2 emission of 106 g/km for 2008. The 107 sold 16701 units in 2008 which is a jump from the 15333 in 2007.

The Peugeot 207 and 308 also placed 5th and 9th, respectively, for the top sellers in the sub 121 g/km class.

The 3 green cars in the top 10 list definitely establish the position of the car manufacturer as one of the greenest best sellers. The combined statistics put the figure to 18.6% for the over all sales of the below 121 g/km in Europe.

The Peugeot provides car owners a wide range of choices to make an environmentally conscious decision when it comes to choosing their rides.

The new generation Peugeot 107 due for release in 2009 gets a better look, higher fuel rating, and is designed to be a lot greener with lower emissions.

The Peugeot 107 has a new youthful look with its chrome detailing, new front bumper look, and design for its wheel trim.

The new face of the Peugeot 107 gives it an image of toughness and a cross link grill for the air intake gives it a friendly city look. The car manufacturer also incorporated side vents which can accommodate the option for fog lamps.

This city car is also prepared to roll on the road in style with the new Cordouan wheel trims with a seven-spoke design. The rear of the car highlights a wide dark windscreen that separates the tail lights. A rear bumper that’s wrap around the chassis is enhanced for safety.

The interior features upholstery that matches the line of colors for the exteriors.

The Urban version of the car has a black background with exciting highlights that matches the color of the car’s body. The Alcantara leather can now be in black stitched down with silver-gray threads. The panel, the gear know, and steering wheel have also been modified to make the interior more cozier.

The 2009 107 is still spreading the love for mother earth with an improvement of 2% for its fuel consumption compared to the older version. The car has an impressive 62.8 mpg UK or 52.3 mpg US. The manufacturer also made sure that CO2 emissions are improved. The new Peugeot 107 emits 106g/km, a bit more friendly than the previous 109g/km.

The Peugeot 107 is set to hit the European market by January of 2009.
